Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington:
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington is to help boys and girls of all backgrounds, with an emphasis on at-risk youth, build confidence, develop character and acquire the skills needed to become productive, civic-minded, responsible adults.
Capital Breast Care Center:
The purpose of the Capital Breast Care Center is to raise breast cancer awareness and to provide screening and follow-up services for women in the District of Columbia by: Providing education; providing mammograms; providing counseling about genetic risk; providing testing for women at high risk; support and guidance from diagnosis to treatment; access to treatment for all women regardless of financial status.
The Southeast Tennis and Learning Center:
The first of its kind in Washington, D.C. and a prototype for the nation, the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (STLC) is an excellent example of how the private and public sectors can work together with local community groups to promote common interests for the benefit of current and future generations. The STLC houses a library and computer lab and offers programs in literacy, tutoring, entrepreneurship and computer technology as well as tennis. The STLC has serves as a catalyst for community rebirth while providing a nurturing environment for children.
The Washington Jesuit Academy:
A Catholic school formed under the auspices of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and operated according to Jesuit educational principles, is a tuition-free middle school offering quality education to disadvantaged boys in the 6th, 7th & 8th grades. WJA educates academically talented adolescent boys from low-income families, regardless of religious denomination, providing for them a disciplined, rigorous learning environment.
